A sports ground in the village of Shpad, Rushan District

In autumn 2019 a sports ground was opened in the village of Shpad in Rushan District. It was built with the support of the Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Tajikistan and the local district authorities.

The public organization «Jurat», which initiated the construction, involved many local young people who had shown great interest in the project for several years. In a relatively short time all the construction work was done: the foundation was laid, a stone retaining wall was built along the highway, and a spectator stand was put up on the northern side.

In the final stage a protective net was installed, everything was painted, and the playing areas were marked out.

Staff and volunteers of «Jurat» took the most active part in the organizational and practical work. It was they, for example, who did the welding with particular care so that the ground would be sturdy and safe.

On the opening day the joy of Shpad’s residents knew no bounds. The celebration was attended by the First Deputy Chairman of GBAO, the head of the district administration, members of the community and, of course, people of Shpad of all ages. They expressed their happiness with songs and dances and showed their folk crafts. The festivities ended with a friendly volleyball match between players from Shpad and their peers from the village of Dekh.
